What are sealants?

The simple function of a sealant is to create a protective barrier against air, water, or other environmental elements from penetrating the substrates or materials it is applied on. Normally, a sealant uses two simple principles to complete its work. These principles are cohesion to the sealant and adhesion to the substrate.

Adhesion

It represents the chemical bond that the substrate and the silent share. By clinging onto the substrate, the sealant creates an obstacle to prevent water seepage.

Cohesion

This term denotes the chemical bond that exists within the client itself. The integrity of the sealant is extremely important for creating a barrier formation against water seepage.

Types of sealant

Silicone sealant

In the last few years, silicone sealant has become an industry favorite in construction projects across the world due to its efficiency. The unique properties of the sealant allow you to use it across a wide range of applications. These sealants have also been proved to be extremely durable.

Polyurethane sealant

Polyurethane sealants are technologically advanced materials that share a very good adhesion level with various elements. Compared to the silicone sealants, Acetoxy Sealant offers much better benefits. That is what makes the polyurethane sealants a better choice in places where you require a stronger Bond.

Acrylic sealant

These Sealants were popular before silicone sealants were invented.

Hybrid polymer sealant

These are considered the new generation of sealants. Any sealant that comes with two different chemical bases is known as a hybrid sealant.
