1. Preparation & Safety
Wait for the engine to cool: Never open a radiator cap while the engine is hot. Serious injury can occur from pressurized steam.
Consult the Manual: Always check your vehicle’s owner’s manual for specific cooling system capacity and drain plug locations.
2. Full System Flush and Fill
For best results and to achieve the 750,000-mile service interval, a complete flush is recommended.
Drain: Open the drain valve (petcock) and drain the old coolant into a sealed container for proper disposal.
Flush: Fill the system with demineralized or distilled water. Run the engine with the heater on high for 10 minutes. Stop the engine, let it cool, and drain again. Repeat until the drained water is clear.
Determine Capacity: Consult your manual to find the total cooling system capacity (e.g., 10 gallons).
Fill (Using Concentrate – AFC11000):
To achieve a 50/50 mix, pour in 50% of the total system capacity as pure concentrate.
Top off the remainder with distilled or deionized water.
Fill (Using 50/50 Prediluted – AFC11100):
Simply pour the product directly into the radiator or expansion tank until full. Do not add water.
Purge Air: Start the engine with the radiator cap off. Let it run until the thermostat opens (the upper radiator hose will get hot). Add more coolant as air bubbles escape and the level drops. Replace the cap.
